A study group of Chinese blue and white porcelain, 17th/18th century, comprising a 17th century Chinese blue and white cover, 16cm, a 17th century 'Kraak’ bottle form vase, 23cm, a section of a Chinese blue and white archaistic vase, Kangxi period, 22cm, a Chinese blue and white meat dish, Qianlong period, 24.5cm, a Chinese blue and white saucer, Qianlong period, 12.2cm and a Chinese blue and white meat dish, Qianlong, arms of Dalrymple, 22.5cm (6) Literature- a similar 'Kraak' Vase can be seen in 'S.T. Yeo & Jean Martin : Chinese Blue and White Ceramics'. 'Howard One' shows pieces with similar decoration to the Dalrymple dish (style R8) and lists another polychrome service made for the family as well. 'Firm' or 'Firme' was the Dalrymple motto and there was an Alexander Dalrymple who was with the East India Company in the mid to late eighteenth century and who may well have commissioned the service from which the dish comes.
