Giltwood framed. Titled “Old Mill”, depicts some haystacks in a village. Signature on bottom right to read R. Noble.Robert Noble (1857 – 1917) was a Scottish artist specializing in landscapes. He was the first President of the Society of Scottish Artists. In 1871, he was apprenticed to an engraver but also worked with his older cousin, James Campbell Noble, who was an up-and-coming artist back then. He encouraged Robert to further his study and he then went to Paris to train under Carolus-Duran. His painting genre changed from figurative to mainly landscapes. The record sold price for his work in auction is USD $17,865 for "Mill at East Linton", which was sold at Lyon & Turnbull Edinburgh in 2007.H: 10 in. L: 13 in.
