吴秩川晚清民国时人，善画小写意花卉，受海派画法影响较深，设色画法近蒲华，设色鲜丽，艳而不俗，勾画更加工细。写意芦雁学清中边寿民，极为神似，色泽较为淡雅。晚清因慈禧嗜好苏东坡书法，上有所好,下必甚焉，一群文人群起响应。吴秩川书法字体规整，但亦不能免俗，笔道略显肥厚。
