本品以碧玉为材，致密纯净，近正方形。用玉材体量大，润泽细腻，成对保存，尤为难得。碧玉板描金为级别极高用品，可见宫廷中的碧玉描金龙纹编磬，以及宫廷中的双面描金插屏等，其制作及绘制极为考究，并非普通工匠能为。拍品两面均以描金手法绘制，正面为山水庭院人物题材，有楼阁高耸，山石古树，小桥流水，扁舟泛流，上饰祥云。人物或立或坐，或嬉戏游乐其中，神态各异，刻划生动。背面则绘花鸟题材，有山石古梅，竹子菊花等，各有一只绶带鸟栖息其间，上饰祥云。工匠以刀代笔，用绘画的皴法多层次雕琢，辅以描金，更使远近景物层次分明，画面布局疏密得体，增加了立体感，显富丽堂皇，雍容华贵。
