The rounded sides rising from a short foot to a slightly everted rim, well-painted in cobalt blue, the interior with a medallion enclosing clusters of peonies on gnarled leafy branches, surrounded on the sides by leafy peach, pomegranate, and crab apple branches, the exterior enamelled with four lotus sprays, in between two inscribed with a horizontal six character XUANDE mark, the base unglazed.
