Measurements: 1.625in x7.25in x 7.25in Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Red dragon over blue waves motif porcelain plates. Potted in shallow vessel form, thick and large, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with a straight open lip, raised with round shallow draft, slight concave base. The exterior and the inner medallion decorated with hand-painting in clean white under glazed base color which contrast against the red and cobalt blue fine color, depicted of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a red color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. Mark on base, a six under glazed blue seal script Zhuanshu characters reign mark, Made In The Years of QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
