PROVENANCE: From private collectors in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Measurements: Height: 30.3 cm, Diam: 34.5cm Chinese Yuan Dynasty Blue and White Porcelain Jar. Potted with a large cylindrical vessel, jar shape, globular belly heavy on shoulder, round mouth rim, short neck, and raised on ring foot base slight concave. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white base color which contrast against blue fine color, depicted of imperial five claws dragon flying careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves. Blue and white porcelain in Chinese it is called Qing Hua Ci. It is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Yuan Dynasty. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
