A SILK ON LINEN TAILORED BEDSPREAD OF FINE QUALITY EARLY 18TH CENTURY Worked in gold silk with various stitches, mostly blanket stitch with pekin knot highlights, the stylised patterned ground with central rosette and corner quadrants, the border similarly worked but unfinished to a small section at one top edge of bedspread, the top border has a faded, and of differing pattern, embroidered panel let in, the tailored corners possibly later and the fringe appears to be later applied possibly when re-backed in the early 20th century170cm wide to top panel, border is 36cm deep, overall 242cm wide x 252cm length including fringing Catalogue Note: A very similar example of embroidery can be seen on a bedspread in the V & A collection on the following link
