OSBERT SITWELL. (1892 - 1969). Autograph Letter to Edith Sitwell, Montegufoni, (c. 1949). An Autograph Letter from Osbert Sitwell to his sister Edith. 2pp., 25 lines written on both sides of a single leaf in blue ink, from Castello di Montegufoni, undated, (c. 1949). Osbert congratulates and highly praises Edith on the publication of her book, 'The Canticle of the Rose', 'Darling, . . . The Canticle of the Rose, with me out here, and have been through it from beginning to end . . . I think it is so important that you have bought all the flowers of your poetry together in this way . . . And then, suddenly, with Gold Coast Customs, you sail into your own with the full splendour of the technique you have achieved . . . No other living poet is worth a tenth of what you have . . . Castello di Montegufoni, near Florence, Italy, was purchased by Sir George Sitwell in 1909 and inherited by Osbert on his father's death in 1943. Provenance: The Sitwell Family Library, Weston Hall.
