Three Victorian silver sweetmeat baskets with red glass liners, comprising: a pair of oval baskets, London, c.1887, Daniel & John Wellby, both very faintly gilded, 11.2 cm long, 5.1cm high, and an earlier round example, London, c.1882, Rosenthal, Jacob & Co. 6cm high, each with beaded swing handle, pierced sides and bead decoration to rim, weighable weight approx. 8.6oz (3)Please refer to department for condition report The sweetmeat baskets are in good overall condition commensurate with age. There are no chips or cracks noted to any of the glass liners and the hallmarks to the silver on all three baskets are clear. Welby oval baskets: some surface scratching and nicking in addition to some bruising which has bent some of the foliate decoration on the sides slightly out of shape. There is a small hole and some further small splits to the the reeded rim of one basket and a small patch of solder connecting the pierced decoration to the rim at one point. There is also a small split noted to the band at the base of this basket. Rosenthal example: good overall condition. However, there are some repairs noted to the pierced sides and repairs noted to the rim at the handle joints. Some general surface scratching and nicking commensurate with age.
