题识：有美先生新居落成，写此申贺。卅年八月，悲鸿。 钤印：悲鸿
1941年八月，徐悲鸿往返于新加坡、槟城之间，忙于作画、举办筹赈展览，《喜上柳梢》是为南洋友人“有美先生”新居落成所绘贺礼。画家以墨笔写柳枝，喜鹊栖息其上，俯身啁啾，柔长低垂的柳丝乘风轻扬，以颇具现代感的构图表现出春风见喜的画意，为徐悲鸿这一画题的典型图式。喜鹊以湿笔勾勒轮廓，长喙、头、背及尾翼用浓墨渲染，表现出圆浑的体量感，背部敷以蓝色，亦是徐氏喜鹊的习见样貌。柳丝的刻画尤见功力，线条长而绵劲，富有质感、动势，观之如感春风拂面，生动异常。
