祁阳石产自湖南永州市祁阳县，石质细腻温润，石色匀净。其石通体紫色而夹有青绿石纹者，称“紫袍玉带”，拍品即属此类。插屏由上等祁阳石制成，取材上乘，肌理莹透，色泽深沉。匠师审时度势，师法造化，采用俏色高浮雕技法，以紫色为地，饰荷花、荷叶，错落有致，颇具生趣。巧色利用，雅意十足。
