The firmly contoured animal figures are crammed together in the stage-like semicircle in the foreground. Domestic and wild animals in peaceful harmony are almost obscuring the view into the middle ground, where in the forest clearing the main scene is depicted in tiny figures: God the Father creates Eve from Adam's rib. The soft white-blue of the sky contrasts with the rich green of the middle ground, with the brown and ocher colors of the animal bodies in front of a dark forest floor with patches of light. Above all, the warm-toned canon of colors, hardly impaired by retouching and rubbing, makes the large oak panel so attractive. Compositions of paradise landscapes by painters such as Jacob and Roland Savery, Jan Bouttats, Jan Breughel the Elder, Gillis van Coninxloo and others, were certainly known to the author of the actual painting, at least through the printmaking in the middle of the 17th century. We see this well-preserved panel in the late circle or by a follower of Roland Savery from the second half of the 17th century.
