简介：蔡元培，绍兴山阴县（今绍兴县）人，原籍浙江诸暨。字鹤卿，又字仲申、民友、孑民，乳名阿培，并曾化名蔡振、周子余。中华民国首任教育总长，曾任教育总长、北京大学校长、人学院院长、中央研究院院长等职。他为发展中国新文化教育事业，建立中国资产阶级民主制度做出了重大贡献，堪称“学界泰斗、人世楷模”。
