Two carved oak misericord panel fragments, 15th/16th century, the largest carved with as a beast with a man's head, eagle body and wings snd serpent tail and neck, the second with a woman attempting to remove a man's shoe, Dimensions the longest 40 x 17cm. Condition Report The larger Misericord has probably been cut down slightly in size but appears to have all of the relief carving intact, with some slight chipping and losses around the edges, dark brown to copper-red patina, vacant fixing holes to the underside. The smaller Misericord is reduced in size and is made from a thinner section of timber and has losses to the lady's left arm and general chipping and small losses around the edge. Evidence of old wormholes, dark brown/black patina with a hint of copper -red showing on some of the polished high points.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place.
