此对金质凤头钗，钗首为凤凰俯瞰飞翔状。造型精美，做工极其复杂，采用了累丝、炸珠、镶嵌、錾刻等工艺，雕镂繁复，凤身羽毛处镶入绿松石，彰显了使用者的身份地位。
《说略》载汉武帝是“王母下降，从者皆飞仙髻、九环髻，遂贯以凤头钗、孔雀搔头、云头、箆以瑇瑁为之。”考古出土所见唐代金玉簪钗多有以凤鸟卷草样式装饰钗首者。此种样式的簪钗一直流行到清代，还常用作聘礼、定情之物。宋代张玉娘有《香闺十咏·凤头钗》：“金蹙钗头双凤凰，晓来巧拂雪云光。自煌不带萧郎思，独对菱花学淡妆。”《荆钗记》有“荆钗博你凤头钗，重义轻生脱绣鞋，一回思想一回哀，凤钗还在人何在。”
