Of circular crown style, with a black velvet ground, decorated with vermilion weft. The crown top is composed of three phoenixes in two layers, separated by a pearl, the top set with a pearl. On the vermilion weft decorate with a circle of seven phoenixes with tourmaline on the back and pearls on the tails. Back the crown, pearls are draped in five rows of two, which means five strings of pearls are separated by lapis lazuli, dividing the pearls into two sections. According to the Da Qing Hui Dian, this was one of the highest ranking symbols in the Qing dynasty, and only the Empress or the Empress Dowager could deserve it, while those concubines below the Empress could only wear three rows of two. During his 27 years in China, he collected a large number of Chinese works of art, with a wide range of interests, particularly in porcelain and metal pieces.
