The globular body supported on four cabriole legs issuing from gilt-bronze lion masks and rising to a short straight neck with everted rim, the exterior decorated in bright enamels against a turquoise ground with large lotus blooms borne on undulating foliate scrolls. The shoulder is flanked by a pair of winged dragon handles decorated in gilt with graduated keyfret pattern, the domed openwork cover finely cast in gilt bronze with ruyi-shaped cloisonne panels reversed on a pierced bat and cloud scroll ground. Provenance: Private estate collection from Toshio Nomura. Toshio Nomura (1930-2014) was a Japanese businessman in Kansai area and a private collector. His maternal grandfather, Hisashi Ueno, began working at the Tianjin Concession Consulate in 1913. During his 27 years in China, he collected a large number of Chinese works of art, with a wide range of interests, particularly in porcelain and metal pieces.
