款识：梅兰芳，一九五六年六月于名古屋。

释文：青春鹦鹉，杨柳楼台。1956年初周恩来总理亲自约梅兰芳谈话，提出拟派在日本有着广泛民众基础的梅兰芳，率领百余人的京剧团，于5月26日至7月17日大规模赴日演出。已经六十二岁的梅兰芳接受了这一艰巨的任务。周恩来委派另一位著名的京剧艺术家，同时也是中国话剧“春柳社”的创始成员欧阳予倩，以及周恩来对日外交的助手孙平化等担任副团长。这就是梅兰芳的第三次访日公演。梅兰芳《东游记》一书，详细介绍了这次访问及演出活动。梅兰芳率团先后访问了东京、大阪、京都、名古屋、奈良、福冈、八幡等多个城市，演京剧，观日剧;访旧雨，结新知;再次在日本全国掀起一场“梅兰芳热”。
