A MINA'I CERAMIC BOWL Iran, Kashan, 12th-13th centuryThe decoration on the internal surface - painted with bright polychrome enamels - showing to the center a circular medallion with two figures near a tree, all around on the wall a slender arabesque with half woman half bird creatures; restored.7 x 20,5 cmProvenance: Raby Gallery London, n. 729 (label); Italian private collection.Mina'i is among the most fascinating pottery made in Iran. It is distinguished from other productions, as well as for the liveliness of the colors, for decorations in which human figures appear, and it is for this reason that this iconography seems to reflect the life of the court, for which this pottery was most likely destined (E. Grube, Islamic Pottery, London 1976, p. 208).
