题识：三友从来作画图，为何不见老松孤。竹与梅花低声说，他在秦国为大夫。高凤翰左手。钤印：石之农、后尚左生、南阜、乾坤
高凤翰，字西园，号南村、南阜、云阜、石道人等，山东胶州人。雍正五年举孝友端方，曾官安徽歙县知县，泰州巡盐分司。擅诗文、书法、绘画、篆刻。五十五岁时因右臂病废，书法篆刻乃以左手为之，毅力惊人。作品拙中得势、苍劲老辣。爱砚成癖，藏砚多至千余方，自刻砚铭165方，为“扬州八怪”之一。
