底款：石林中人
方壶的成型难度要大于圆器，有“一方顶十圆”之说，且随着壶体积的增加，其烧制难度倍增。此件紫泥石林中人方壶壶体较大且饱满充盈，式度端庄，壶底至口沿逐渐收敛，壶体曲线流畅，过渡自然，盖沿与口沿均起双层厚圈线，壶钮四面开孔方钮，壶底如一枚四方大铜印，以泥板贴塑“石林中人”篆文四字。石林中人，考为蒋之翘（1596-1659）明末清初学者、藏书家。字楚稚，号石林，人称“蒋石林”，又号雪樵，别署石户农，秀水（今嘉兴）人。致力古学，明亡后隐居不出，家道清贫，好藏古籍。蒋之翘爱好壶艺，清乾隆张廷济弟季勤藏有“石林壶”一持，为《阳羡名陶录》编者吴骞（槎客）题铭锓匣，曰：“浑浑者陶之始，舍则藏吾与尔，石林人传季勤得，子孙宝之永无忒。”
