A PARCEL-GILT IRON AND JADE BUTTER TEA SET Tibet, the parcel-gilt iron parts date to 19th century, the jade bowl dates to the first half of the 20th century. The parcel-gilt iron stand, decorated with a brass ring and Buddhist elements, with the lobed saucer atop, incised with a composition of geometric patterns and the eight Buddhist treasures, comprising a very thin mottled green and black jade cup of fine translucent quality. The four-level tiered cover with delicately engraved and reticulated Buddhist treasures, surmounted by a lotus bud knob.

Condition: Fine condition with surface wear, nicks, slight warping, and small holes to the underside of the saucer due to corrosion.
Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
