A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN ‘LANDSCAPE’ TEAPOT
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). Of baluster shape with a long and slightly concave neck, everted lip, S-shaped spout and curved, C-shaped handle, all supported on a short, tapered foot. The exterior painted underglaze cobalt blue. The central panel depicts a riverside landscape with residential buildings seated on rocks shrouded in mist, fisherman’s boats on the river and mountainous peaks in the distance. The neck, spout, and ear decorated with floral motifs.
Condition: Very good condition with some minor firing imperfections. Lid is missing.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
