A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN ‘DRAGON’ PLATE
China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949)
With shallow rounded sides, painted in intense underglaze cobalt blue and depicting a ferocious dragon chasing the flaming pearl, swirling between turbulent waves. The show side rim with a double line. The underside with an apocryphal six-character Kangxi mark within a double circle and with flame motifs to the outer wall.
Condition: Very good condition with minor firing imperfections.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
