A THANGKA OF CHAKRASAMVARA WITH HIS CONSORT
Tibet, 19th century. Distemper on cloth, framed in a linen mounting. A finely painted depiction of Chakrasamvara and his consort Vajravarahi in ‘yab yum’ embrace. The body of Chakrasamvara is depicted with blue skin partly covered by a tiger skin. On his lap is his consort Vajravarahi, depicted with a red body and two raised hands. The couple is surrounded by various other creatures, lamas, and Buddha emanations.
Condition: Extensive wear, creasing, soiling, losses and tears.
