Japan, 19th century. The incense burner in the shape of a globular bowl, covered in a glaze of ivory-white tone and with seven-character incised inscription to the side. With a matching glazed stand.
Condition: Firing imperfections, age-related wear, chips, and minor flakes to the glaze.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by a second-generation member of the Holzapfel family and has remained in the family ever since.
