A FINE ORIBE CERAMIC BOWL
Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912)
The oribe ceramic bowl of rounded square shape. The bowl shows two symmetrical thick green glaze drops on the sides. The cream-colored glaze, depicting an elegant décor with craquelure features painting of brown painted grass motifs, cloudy contours with grids and suggested forms of the cultic hanging Shimenawa. Seal marks on the unglazed bottom.
DIAMETER 16.9 cm
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and a short firing crack to the rim.
