A SMALL STONE RELIEF OF SADASHIVA AND CONSORT, PALA PERIOD
India, 10th-11th century. Sadashiva depicted seated on a pedestal, having five faces and ten arms, the consort, Mahagayatri, having two arms and resting in his lap. Below the deity is a relief of small figures, showing the Nandi bull, a feline animal and a central Ganesha. Loosely mounted to a recent metal base.
Condition: Good overall condition commensurate with age, extensive wear, losses, nicks, and structural fissures.
Provenance: Swiss private collection, acquired in Belgium.
