A STONE HEAD OF BHAIRAVA Northern India, Rajasthan, 11th to 12th century. The head adorned with a headdress, his impassive face defined by bulging eyes and mouth exposing fangs, flanked by elongated earlobes with jeweled earrings. Mounted on a wood base.

Condition: Extensive wear, losses, nicks, few areas with various residues, commensurate with age.
Provenance: Dutch private collection, according to the current owner acquired from an Italian private collection.
