A CHOLA STYLE STONE FIGURE OF VISHNU
Southern India, 19th century or earlier. The greyish to black stone portraying Vishnu, here represented as Srinivasa with four hands, standing on a pedestal that arises from a rectangular base. His four arms radiating around his body and holding specific attributes that symbolize his protective role, wearing dhoti, jewels and headdress, his face with almond-shaped eyes. To his lower left and right a pair of worshippers, all in front of an aureole surmounted by a mythical beast head. With a modern wooden base.
Condition: Good condition, as visible in the images. Some expected surface wear, minuscule nicks and incrustations.
