A LARGE SILVERED BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI
Cambodia, Oudongk, Post Angkor period, dated 1912. The Buddha seated in dhyanasana on a semi-circular stepped throne with geometric, floral designs and a central lappet with a dancer, the right hand held in bhumisparsa mudra and the left in dhyana mudra. Elegantly clad in a fitted sanghati with floral scroll and dotted pattern. With inscriptions including the dating to 1912.
Condition: Good condition with wear and firing flaws, light scratches, minuscule nicks here and there. Overall commensurate with age.
Provenance: Ex-Collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
