Japan, 18th to early 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868)
The two sennin skilfully carved, one is standing with its right hand on his head and its left holding a scroll, while the other is sitting with a toad on his lap, which is biting and pulling the scroll. The backside shows a deep yellow-orange and lustrous patina and houses the himotoshi.
HEIGHT 6.5 cm
Condition: Very good condition, minor wear and expected age cracks.
