蔚秀园位于畅春园北，为畅春园之属园，其前身为“彩霞园”，是康熙帝第九子允禟赐园，道光十六年（1836年）赐定郡王载铨。改名“含芳园”也称“定王园”。载铨去世后，因清代赐园均无继承权，此园收归内务府，咸丰九年（1859年）转赐道光帝第七子醇亲王奕譞，始称“蔚秀园”。本拍品所落“蔚秀园主人制“款识可知，当为醇亲王奕譞私人定制用瓷。
