款识：潘兆林 |壶作方砖式，气韵稳重挺拔，刚直遒劲，壶盖纹丝密合，做工精致脱俗。壶身长方形，方流、方板、方盖，方钮，整体协调，工艺精湛。器身刻诗文，钤“兆林”款。胎质缜密温润，全器形文相合，颇具文人气息。|潘兆林，生卒不详，为清嘉道时期宜兴地区紫砂艺人，传器较少，但制壶技艺扎实，谙熟制器方圆之道，除了此件方壶，还有方钟壶传世。
