signed WANGMEIFANG, inscribed, and with two seals of the artist ink and color on silk, hanging scroll Wang Meifang (1949) was born in Beijing. After she graduated from the middle school attached to the Central Art Academy in 1969, she was among those young urbanites who were sent "up to the mountains and down to the villages" . She spent ten years in a military rural reclamation unit, where she was engaged in animal husbandry and continued designing in her spare time. In 1979, she was transferred to the Tianjin Industrial Art Design College.
