Vietnamese Ly Dynasty Period Celadon Chicken Head Ewer W/Dragon Form Handle - This ewer has an ovoid body which rises to a waisted neck finishing with a galleried rim. The body has two molded angular loop handles, a short spout in the form of a chicken head and a long arched handle which ends in the form of a dragon head grasping the mouth of the rim. The ewer is covered in a heavy greyish-green celadon glaze which stops at the foot revealing the beige body on the base. The piecees from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam). Measurements (approximate): 9.5"H x 7"W.
