提要：是书收录平湖地区画家小传，自六朝迄于民国初年，凡有书可考者，从事采集，不嫌其详，如一人数书互见者，遵《佩文斋书画谱》例备录之。其未见著录者，则询诸朋好，得其所长，撰成小传。采摭甚富，凡引书百余种，得二百八十余人。版刻精整，朱印悦目，上等棉连纸精印，版心下镌“映雪庐。前有冯清来画雪映庐主人小像。原装原签。常见为二册本，此为四册厚夹宣特装本。识者宝之。
孙振麟（1903-1952），字秉之，浙江平湖人。寓沪经商，积书甚丰。藏书室曰雪映卢。
