Tang Dynasty, 618-907 AD. A fragmentary carved stone horse and rider figureprising the animal's body and neck and the legs and waist of a rider seated in a saddle; harness and harness pendants in relief, with detailing to the dressed mane, the one remaining hand of the rider gripping the horse's wavy locks, pricked ears and eyes, and to the rider's garments and boots; head carved with semi-naturalistic detail, dressed hair pulled back into two bunches on the top of the head and falling straight down the back of the head. 3.3 kg, 24cm wide (9 1/2").
