A knife from the Piha Kaetta family of bladesposed of a straight, single-edged, T-section blade, fullered with foliate ornament; grip scales possibly of polished horn, also carved with foliate-style scrolls, silver inlay to one face; inset silver pommel cap decorated with foliate scroll work and brass button; hilt extending along both edges of blade and at sides, ornamented with floral vines; blade tip re-shaped, shortened. Cf. The Metropolitan Meum, accession number 36.25.956, for similar. 188 grams, 26cm long (10 1/4"). Acquired 1990s. Property of a North London collector.
