6th century AD. A gilt-bronze saucer brooch with flange to the rim, inner band of running scrolls around a pentagonal central panel; remains of catch and pin-lugs to the reverse. Cf. Found by the vendor's grandfather in West Ssex in the early 1990s. Property of a West Ssex, UK, gentleman.
