5th-6th century AD. A copper-alloy buckle frame, D-shaped with flat-section loop, bearing three plain bands of cabled decoration, inked 'ANDOVER' to the rear. 13.4 grams, 28mm wide (1"). Found near Andover, Hampshire, UK. From a Loughborough collection. The buckle is of the type found across the Mediterranean and Western Europe from the 5th century onwards.
