A copper-alloy cruciform broochprising a long axis, rectangular head-plate with three integral facetted half-round knobs; ribbed bow with animal head terminal with spiralling nostrils. See Martin, T. F., The Cruciform Brooch and Anglo-Saxon England, Woodbridge, 2015, pl.46.1. 28.3 grams, 87mm high (3 1/2"). From the late Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; from her collection formed 1960s-1990s. The brooch belongs to class 2.2.3 of the Martin classification, being a small and relatively plain brooch with a zoomorphic foot possessing spiral-shaped nostrils. Martin assigns such brooches to phase B (c. AD 475-550).
