Hans Thoma, 1839 Bernau - 1924 Karlsruhe, is one of Germanies best known painter of landscapes and portraits. In 1899 he became director of the Grand Ducal Art Gallery and professor at the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe. Since 1949 his birth place has dedicated an entire meum to his oeuvre.
