说明：此书分为国宝、国华、博古、博物、法宝、鸿宝六类，上起符玺圭璧，下至杂佩，图案精细，题赞真、草、隶、篆各体皆备，均为徽州名手摹绘刻制。加之制版精良，纸白墨亮，画面书品具佳，被誉为明代四大墨谱之一。
方于鲁，安徽歙县人，以字行世。方氏以制墨精良，名重于明万间，所著《方氏墨谱》，为方氏制墨各种造形、图案的集大成著作。版心下镌“美荫堂集”
