炉钧釉是雍正朝景德镇御窑厂创烧的低温窑变釉新品种，烧成之后深为皇帝喜爱。其釉面为红、蓝、绿、月白等交织熔融于一体，乾隆初期短暂延续这一特征，之后逐渐蜕变为交织蓝、绿、月白等色。此瓶蒜头形口，长颈，圆腹，圈足外撇，瓜棱纹装饰整器。通体施炉钧釉，釉质凝厚，釉色以蓝色为主，釉中诸色浑融交错，迷离迤逦，为乾隆炉钧釉之佳作。蒜头瓶器形来自秦汉时期，瓷质者在隋唐以前不多见，明清时期流行。明代嘉靖、万历年间多以青花、五彩为饰，乾隆御窑师古以开新，继承这一品种并施以当朝所创新釉色，成“师古而不泥古”之典范，本品即为当时的创新之作。
