A LARGE FAMILLE ROSE ‘CRANES AND PEONY’ DISH, QIANLONG PERIOD China, 1736-1795. The shallow rounded sides rising from a short tapered foot to a broad everted rim. Finely painted in bright enamels with a large lingbi stone and flowering peonies as well as further flowers and rocks in a fenced garden, and to one side with a pair of cranes standing in grass amid bamboo and rockwork.

Provenance: Goteborgs Auktionsverk, 1981, no. 1357 (according to the inscribed lot image and description from the catalog entry attached to the base). Old Swedish private collection, thence by descent. Old inventory labels to base, ‘818’, and ‘4269’. Label to base, ‘Qianlong 1736-1795’.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear, traces of use and firing irregularities, such as dark spots and pitting, minor frits and losses to enamels, some possibly with microscopic touchups.
