PICTURE PAINTER 19th century, "Half portrait of a lady", probably Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient, the young woman in a blue dress standing in front of a burgundy drapery, on the left a landscape view with a church and small lakes, unsigned, oil / canvas, HxW: approx. 90x68 cm (130x110 with frame). Craquelé and stretcher impression, part. color abrasion / flaking off, restored with canvas double patches and retouches on the reverse. With a splendid frame (signs of age, the frame slightly rubbed). VERSO inscribed 'Emmeline von Schröder' on the stretcher in pencil by an unknown hand - the opera singer Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient was known for her role as Emmeline in Weigl's "Die Schweizer Familie". VERSO on the frame remains of a seizure label from the district court of Berlin-Pankow.
