He took up a research position at the National Palace Museum in Taipei in 1970 and later became a Professor at the Graduate Institute of History and Historical Artefacts in Feng Chia University in Taichung. As the inaugural president of the Ceramic Arts Association of Taiwan, he was a renowned specialist in ancient ceramics, paintings, calligraphy and historic artefacts.
