A framed Chinese purple-ground embroidered robe dating from the 19th century. The robe is embroidered with scholarly objects using the forbidden stitch. The sleeves feature multiple bands of embroidered decoration on various grounds. The body of the robe has black borders embroidered with colorful flowers. Dimensions are: the robe measures 49 1/2 inches tall X 50 1/2 inches wide, 125.7 cm X 128.3 cm, while the frame measures 55 1/4 inches tall X 55 inches wide, 140.3 cm X 139.7 cm.
